I worked in graphic design, photography, technology, lead generation, copy, web design, social, environmental design, events, PR, and strategy. That pride was well placed because at Backbone I was able to flex almost all of my skills. To shake up an entire industry filled with legacy systems this was the kind of opportunity I was proud to be a part of. The vision, the people, and the opportunity all were picture-perfect. Backbone created a first-in-class product lifecycle management suite that focused on an amazing UI/UX experience for brands making modern products. I knew from my first day that Backbone PLM was no ordinary startup. However, with the support of my friends, my family, former co-workers, and Nick Richtsmeier, I am ecstatic to announce I am starting as the new and first creative director for CultureCraft. The weight of job searching in one of the world’s worst economic crises seemed overwhelming, to put it lightly. Some fortunate folks have been furloughed, or have been assured that their jobs will reappear once things “get back to normal.” Most, however, aren’t so lucky and are now endlessly searching for what comes next. This is unfortunately part of the “new normal.” As of June 2020, over 20 million people across hundreds of industries have filed for unemployment in the US. ![]() About a month ago I shared on various social channels that I had been laid off from my job.
